Are you tired of being a bloodless clerk of the news? We are looking for experienced editors with 10+ years of management experience for a unique and challenging opportunity in the Middle East and North Africa. Proficiency in French and/or Arabic language strongly desired. We need thoughtful people to work with fellow editors and publishers to improve news quality, set new standards, increase circulation, streamline operations, build credibility and reach new readers. We want professionals who have demonstrated they can lead a newsroom to higher standards; who can work in difficult and uncomfortable environments; who can overcome the challenges of intercultural communications; who enjoy living and working in exotic locales; who can figure out innovative approaches to a very different kind of journalism and who have the motivation and energy to face these challenges with grace and good humor. Fellowship for Investigative Reporting in Bosnia
New York University and the Journalism Development Group, LLC are seeking experienced reporters interested in investigative reporting and learning to be investigative editors. We are offering five full-time fellowships based in Sarajevo to pursue in-depth issues with a team of the best local, regional and international reporters and editors.
Successful applicants will:
- Be Bosnian nationals
- Have a proven track record of quality stories
- Have at least 3 years full-time reporting experience
- Have computer skills
- Be motivated to do in-depth investigative pieces
- Speak English if possible
Also available are part-time internships for college students and new journalists.
Successful candidates will receive a competitive honorarium and work in a good environment with the latest tools.
The program is funded by USAID. The fellowships will be based in Sarajevo but we encourage reporters from all of Bosnia-Herzegovina to apply.
